Nutrition can be defined as the consumption of food and use of nourishing material contained in the food by the body. Nutrition is a study of the relationship between the diets of a person and the resulting health or disease. It explains the physiologic and metabolic responses of a human body to diet.
The nutrients in the food we take consist of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fat and water. Imbalance in nutrients causes ill health from excess or deficiency in any one particular nutrient that in turn affects the functionality of the body. Malnutrition or imbalanced nutrition in a child may affect brain, other vital organs, eyesight, weight, height and formation of other parts of the body.
Nutrition as a science developed due to its importance for sports performance. It was considered to be important for the health and performance of athletes and sportsmen. Advances and research in this branch of science has now helped in understanding the importance of nutrition for common people as well.
NUTRITION can be termed as the procedure wherein one nourishes oneself with the intake of nutrients in the form of food. The principal motive for such a process is that it is essential for growth and development of the body. It is also crucial in the substitution of tissues.
The field of study or science of nourishment through food is also called Nutrition. It deals with the study of nutrients needed to be used by an individual from his surroundings to lead a healthy life and be able to bear offspring.
Mammals require an extremely multifarious combination of over forty chemical elements. These include, carbohydrates, proteins etc.
Initially, the science of nutrition paid attention to the ability of nutrients to avoid or heal illnesses. But now the focus has shifted to nutrients needed to encourage a healthy lifestyle, lead to a prolonged existence and the ability to fight diseases like cancer, diabetes and heart diseases.
Eating healthy has become a priority what with the increase of food that is manufactured specially and made superior through technological processes.

You get nutrition from FOOD, food is energy which we need to keep our bodies strong and working. A better quality of diet like low fats ,low sugar provides better nutirents so keep us healthy.
